Only 425 cars were made in this version.
A collector’s item.
The XJR, introduced in 1988, was a high-performance model that was finished by the JaguarSport company, a company established in Oxfordshire by Jaguar and racing team TWR, in TWRs Kidlington-based factory on the same assembly line as the "legendary" XJ220.
Based on a Sovereign model - the XJR model was equipped with an up-to-date suspension with unique Bilstein dampers, a revised steering control valve to increase the wheel weight with 40% and special outdoor paint and styling. Technically, the XJR Sports is equipped with Bilstein sports suspension, differential lock and a 4-litre in-line six AJ6 engine with 250 HP thanks to electronics and complete exhausts developed by TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing). This automatic goes from 0-100 in 6.6 seconds.
The XJR is visually different from other XJ40-models with a body kit in body colour, consisting of new front and rear mudguards and side skirts, all made of fiberglass, a black grille with a JaguarSport-badge and unique Speedline alloy wheels with wider tyres. The interior contains a leather MOMO steering wheel, JaguarSport logos on the dials, a wooden gearstick with Jaguar emblem and exclusive blue Wilton carpet on the floor.
Electronically adjustable front seats. Driver's seat with memory. Heated front seats. Air conditioning and climate control. ABS. Cruise control. Electric and heated outer mirrors. Driver's side airbag. Central locking with alarm
alarm. High-beam headlamps.
Sport mode (higher rpm on the automatic).
Only a couple of hundred units were made in this version making it a rare car nowadays.
The car comes from England and was delivered new to the Jaguar importer in Germany where it stood in the showroom for 10 years. It was then bought by the owner who now emigrated, we bought the Jaguar from him. The entire history, maintenance, etc is included. The car is valued at € 12,500.
The engine is in excellent condition. The car was driven about 3,000 km per year, every year it had a minor or a major service.
The interior is in excellent condition. The leather front seats have a crackled seating area.
The car drives, steers and brakes excellent and is a pleasure to drive as you would expect from a real Jaguar.
