Description

Following many years of successful sales of its 750/101 Giulietta and Giulia Sprint coupes, which were first introduced in 1954, Alfa Romeo unveiled a new model, known as the Sprint GT, for 1964. For the following model year, a GT Veloce was offered, adding a serious dose of performance to the model, and creating the acronym “GTV” that would be used when referring to Alfa Romeo coupes of 1964–1977.

Powered by Alfa Romeo’s venerable nord (north) twin-cam four-cylinder engine first seen in the Giulietta, GTV displacement would start at a nominal 1,600 cc in 1964, eventually swelling to 1,750 and then 2,000 cc in later models, though a 1,300 cc model named the GT Junior was available in certain markets. Beneath the Bertone coachwork was advanced architecture including front independent-wishbone suspension and a rear live axle with trailing arms and coil springs. Disc brakes were standard on all four corners, and the GTV was well known for being the most dynamic and characterful car in its class.

This lovely 1974 GTV 2000 presents well in its attractive silver over black livery and benefits from tasteful personalization through the addition of GTA-style alloy wheels and earlier-style low-back bucket seats. A model with an enthusiastic and growing following, this GTV stands to bring its many charms to the life of a new owner.
