Description
"The great arrival of the Brigand (and non-turbocharged Britannia) saw Bristol cars adopt the names of the once famous Bristol Aeroplane Company. The Brigand had a Rotomeister turbocharger added to its mighty Chrysler V8 engine as well as a torque converter to cope with the extra performance which saw the Brigand capable of a top speed of 150mph, particularly quick for such a large sports coupé. It was distinguishable from the Britannia by the bulge in the bonnet needed to accommodate the turbocharger and alloy wheels as standard.
This handsome righthand drive example has been repainted in August 2011, finished in Caribbean Blue using new window rubbers when refitting the glass. It has also been complimented by a nicely patinated grey leather interior. The carpets have been recently renewed, as was the headlining and the rear parcel shelf – which was in fact re-covered to match the interior. All the leather was re-Connolised in the original grey and eight panels were replaced where they were worn, split or dirty. We are informed by the vendor that this could possibly be the Brigand development car as the refurbished steel wheels (shod with Pirelli 4000 tyres) are non-standard which, if proven, would make it an extremely interesting car within Bristol circles let alone car collectors and investors Worldwide. Recent works also include the fitting of a new ‘Bristol Motors’ steering pump and the car will be presented with a new MoT test certificate and light service. A British classic exuding class but with impressive performance to match."
