Description

GENERAL

In the late 19th century, Theophiel Bourgeois was the blacksmith in a village near Bruges, Belgium, who built coaches for local farmers during the winter months.
After taking over his father’s coachwork business, Bourgeois Jr. started building bodies for motor cars out of Ostend. On a hot summer’s day, Bourgeois Jr. decides to rent a trailer and head into the countryside, only to come back frustrated by the many flaws and inconveniences this trailer showed.
That’s when he decided to build his own holiday trailer. At the time of its release in 1960, the Bourgeois B 36’s design was truly ground-breaking. For the first time in history, a self-supporting structure with punched aluminium sheets was used in a trailer.
This made the B36 considerably lighter than its competitors, as it only needed a chassis and 6 metal sheets, and thus no supporting frame.
Another technical innovation, however omnipresent today, was the trailer’s hydraulic braking system. This system used the pressure in the car’s brake fluid circuit to slow down the trailer, but only when the driver is pushing the brakes.
This B 36 has been very carefully restored by its previous owner and is in beautiful original condition. It is on sale either separately, or in combination with its matching and period-correct Renault Ami 8
Both vehicles are in excellent restored condition and are waiting to be taken on vacation on small, toll-free village roads across the continent.

EXTERIOR

The exterior of this trailer has been repaint in a beautiful beige that matches its Ami 8 frontrunner. All mounted parts are in very good condition.

INTERIOR

This trailer’s interior has been beautifully restored and still has iys original aluminium, polymer-covered cupboards and cabinets.

BODY

The underside of the body looks very clean and has a protective layer against weathering and rust.
