Description
"Following on from the hugely successful E-Type, Jaguar introduced the XJS in 1976. Although not quite as sporting as the E-Type, the XJS was a very capable grand tourer and its slick body shape meant it was more aerodynamic than its predecessor. Power came from Jaguar’s V12 engine which was a relatively exotic configuration for the time and usually reserved for Ferraris and Lamborghinis. From July 1981 the XJS became the XJS HE and received the new high-efficiency engine for much better economy. In 1982, the new V12 XJS HE won first and second at the RAC Tourist Trophy race at Silverstone. The Lynx Motor Company was founded in 1968 by engineer Guy Black and architect Roger Ludgate. Originally formed to repair and maintain specialist sports and racing cars but they quickly made their name restoring and maintaining original Jaguar C-Types, D-Types and E-Types. Lynx converted the XJS from coupé to convertible in response to customer demand, several years before Jaguar themselves were offering the car in this open body style. Each conversion took ten weeks to complete as the donor car had to be significantly re-engineered to retain sufficient strength.
This 1985 Jaguar XJS HE, fitted with the V12 engine and ultra-rare manual gearbox, was converted by the Lynx Motor Company to this lovely convertible. In 2013 further work was carried out including a new electric roof and new leather seats. This car was purchased by the current owner in 2016 and kept in his private collection and it has had very little use in this time. This Lynx convertible is finished in dark red with red soft top roof and black leather, piped in red, interior. Currently the roof is not working but it was replaced in 2013, also the car requires a new near side rear window. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate. With the roof down and the V12 on song, this is the perfect car to make the most of the British summer. Offered without reserve."
