The Bora emerged from the financial turmoil at Maserati during the late 1960s. Out of this crucible came a true Maserati: sophisticated and comfortable as well as fast and rakish. The Bora, a cerebral and pragmatic machine, combined Maserati’s melodious four-cam V-8 with Citroën’s high-pressure hydraulic system, all clothed in handsome Giugiaro styling.

This remarkable Bora has seen exceptionally little use since Gerald Lustig of Staten Island acquired it on October 11, 1973, from Grossman Motor Car Corp. in West Nyack, New York. Lustig kept the vehicle, a US-specification 4.9-liter model, until 2001, when it passed into the ownership of collector Carl Lopp.

After the consignor purchased the Bora from Mr. Lopp in 2013, he engaged marque specialist Auto Turismo Sport LTD in New Milford, Connecticut, to carry out a meticulous inspection and then service, repair, clean, and detail the car for concours entry. This extensive work, completed in late 2013, included replacement of the cooling system hoses, hydraulic brake lines, and the exhaust system. Invoices documenting the work accompany the sale, as do an owner’s manual, maintenance manual, official Maserati delivery book, jack, and original tires.

In highly original condition and displaying less than 2,700 miles at the time of cataloguing, this Bora is a desirable example of an exceptional supercar.
