Salon Privé 2011: A New Venue and RM’s First UK Summer Auction

London’s luxury lifestyle garden party, Salon Privé, will be held from 22 to 24 June in a new location at Syon Park in West London. New-for-2011 will be ‘Quintessentially English’, a collectors’ car sale by RM Auctions on 23 June.

An early entry for the auction, RM Europe’s first summer sale in the UK, is the 1929 Bentley Speed Six ‘Le Mans’ Vanden Plas Tourer. The car, chassis number FA 2518, was created some 38 years ago on a 1929 ‘Big Six’ chassis using a genuine 1930 Speed Six engine and has all the usual ‘Le Mans Bentley’ touches such as a big petrol tank, stone guards and VDP-style coachwork. Recently restored, it’s estimated at £450,000 - £550,000.

“We are excited to partner with Salon Privé for this new event,” said Max Girardo, Managing Director, RM Europe.

“The stunning Syon Park surroundings, alongside the Salon Privé garden party setting, provide the perfect backdrop for the sale’s ‘Quintessentially English’ theme and relaxed, summer vibe,” he added.

Previously held at the Hurlingham Club, the organisers of Salon Privé have answered the issues of parking and accessibility by moving the event, which gets bigger every year, to the larger facilities of Syon House, just a little further outside central London. Salon Privé regularly has new car debuts, and features as its highlight a concours d’elegance.
