Description

In 1965, Porsche wisely introduced the 912 as an entry-level alternative to the new 911, to remain competitive in the price category in which the outgoing 356 had proved so popular. It featured a 1,582 cc flat four-cylinder engine producing 102 hp. The engine’s reduced mass and mounting position made the 912 a particularly nimble and balanced automobile. During its five-model-year production run, the 912 remained visibly nearly identical to the 911 inside and out and outsold its six-cylinder sibling by a ratio of about 3 to 2.

Today, the 912 has become a sought-after collectible in its own right. The 912 presented here is a four-owner example, first delivered in July 1967 to a Virginia-based doctor through the noted Brumos Porsche dealer in Jacksonville, Florida. The car retains its original engine per its factory certificate of authenticity, as well as its original service booklet, tracking its maintenance and mileage during its early years, and today shows just 48,000 miles. Enthusiast-owned for at least the past 33 years, this handsome 912 is presented in its original color scheme of Ivory over black and received an engine rebuild in 2014.

Among the most approachable and enjoyable Porsches of its era, this 912 has been a family favorite in the hands of its longtime caretaker and is sure to delight its next fortunate owner.
