The Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV Bertone is one of those cars that perfectly explains why so many enthusiasts have a soft spot for Alfa Romeo. Not because of excessive power, not because of complicated technology, and not because of exclusivity alone. But because of feel. Because of lines that are simply right, an engine that feels alive, a driving position that immediately puts you in the right frame of mind, and a driving experience that still feels remarkably fresh even after fifty years.

For Gallery Aaldering, a Bertone is also more than just a beautiful Italian coupé. Our family business has existed since 1975, and although we now offer a broad selection of high-quality classics and sports cars, our story originally began with Alfa Romeo. The brand is therefore deeply rooted in our DNA. Seeing a 2000 GTV restored with this much care, detail, and respect automatically brings a smile to our faces.

The 105-series coupés appeared in 1963 as successors to the Giulietta Sprint. The body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone and has grown into one of the most recognizable Italian coupé shapes of the 1960s and 1970s. Slim pillars, a generous glass area, compact dimensions, and elegant lines give the car a truly timeless appearance.

The 2000 GT Veloce was introduced in 1971 as the most powerful and most mature version of the Bertone range. Engine capacity increased to 1,962 cc, and the famous Alfa Romeo Twin Cam produced around 130 horsepower. Combined with a five-speed manual transmission, disc brakes, and rear-wheel drive, the 2000 GTV gained exactly the kind of technical foundation that still appeals strongly to enthusiastic drivers today.

A good GTV already has excellent driving characteristics in standard form. It feels compact, direct, and lively. The engine responds eagerly, the gearbox encourages an active driving style, and the chassis gives the car a wonderful sense of balance.

This 1973 example was restored to what we are comfortable calling blueprint restoration standards. Returned to original specification, without modifications and without modern interpretations that alter the character. Exactly as a 2000 GTV should be. Not made louder, lower, or more aggressive, but carefully rebuilt with respect for originality.

The color is iconic Alfa Rosso, combined with a black Nero interior. A classic combination, but one that still works exceptionally well on a Bertone. The red paint emphasizes the clean lines of the body and gives the car that unmistakable Alfa look. The black interior keeps the atmosphere functional and purposeful. The overall impression is exactly as it should be: pure and entirely in keeping with the character of the car.

The quality of the restoration is not only visible on the outside. Naturally, the body presents beautifully, with deep gloss, excellent panel fit, and correct details. But just as important is the underside. On this GTV, it is every bit as impressive as the top. That perhaps says more than anything about the level at which this Alfa was restored. Since the restoration, the car has covered approximately 650 kilometers in Europe, including in Italy.

We have a soft spot for Alfa Romeos. Perhaps that comes from our history with these cars. We have understood the appeal of a good Bertone for a very long time. The sound, the response, the light-footed feel, and the way such a car can turn an ordinary drive into something special. A good 2000 GTV really does not need anything more than that. And that is exactly the strength of this example.
