Elegant Roadster coachwork by Karmann

Authentic appearance with a harmonious colour combination
Attractive German pre-war classic from 1939
The Ford Eifel was one of the most important German Ford models of the 1930s. Built in Cologne from 1935 onwards, it was compact, comparatively affordable and offered with a wide variety of body styles. Power came from a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine, whose modest output was quite sufficient for the lightweight car.
Among the most appealing versions were the open models. Alongside the standard production bodies, coachwork was also produced by renowned German specialists. This 1939 Ford Eifel carries Roadster coachwork by Karmann, combining dependable series-production mechanicals with the craftsmanship and elegance for which the Osnabrück company was renowned.
The car has recently undergone a comprehensive restoration. Rather than attempting to reinvent the pre-war classic, particular attention was paid to achieving a coherent and period-correct appearance. The colour combination was chosen with equal care.
Today, the paintwork, hood and interior form a particularly harmonious ensemble and complement the elegant lines of the open two-seater. Its restrained appearance is especially well suited to the character of a German sports car of the late 1930s.
This Ford Eifel Karmann Roadster therefore presents itself as a carefully restored pre-war classic that remains pleasingly close to its historic appearance – elegant, authentic and with a particular lightness of character that suits a small open Ford exceptionally well.
