The arrival of the second-generation 997 Turbo represented a significant step forward for Porsche's flagship 911. The previous 3.6-litre engine was replaced by a new 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged flat-six with direct fuel injection, producing 500bhp and 516lb.ft of torque (with over-boost) driving all four wheels through Porsche Traction Management.
 
Another important development was the availability, for the first time on the 911 Turbo, of Porsche's seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission in place of the previous Tiptronic automatic option. Combined with Variable Turbine Geometry turbochargers and the numerous detail improvements introduced with the second-generation 997, the result was a hugely capable 911 with the performance expected of the Turbo badge whilst remaining eminently usable.
 
First registered on 21st November 2009, the Turbo Cabriolet offered here was supplied by Porsche Mayfair and is finished in Atlas Grey over Dark Grey Natural Leather. We understand that the base price was £109,048 with the options boxes ticked adding an additional £17,631, amounting to a total purchase price when new of £126,679. Atlas Grey Metallic (Paint Code: M7X / E7 / 6C2) is one of Porsche’s most celebrated "chameleon" colours, prominently featured during the 997 generation of the 911.
 
We understand from our vendor that it was Porsche Mayfair's first Gen 2 Turbo and consequently it was remarkably well specified. The recorded options when new included Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), the seven-speed PDK transmission, Sport Chrono Package Turbo, adaptive sports seats, a rear axle differential lock and centre-lock alloy wheels. The interior specification also included additional leather covering the sports seat backrests, rear centre console, inner door-sill guards, sun visors, steering column casing and instrument surround. Further options that had been selected include painted side skirts, ParkAssist, cruise control, heated seats, a telephone module for PCM with Bluetooth and the Universal Audio Interface, together with Porsche crests embossed into the headrests and distinctive Speed Yellow seat belts.
 
Our vendor purchased the Porsche in 2018 and has now enjoyed it for eight years. He tells us that it has been used during the summer months only whilst in his ownership and, as can be seen in our images, it continues to present superbly. The V5C records six former registered keepers and as the current indicated mileage (at the time of cataloguing) was just 19,892, it was patently lightly used and cherished by all. We understand that the car has been serviced throughout by Porsche main dealers, with its most recent service completed in June 2026. We are also informed that all four tyres were replaced in 2023 and have subsequently covered fewer than 1,000 miles. It's accompanied by a Porsche roof cover and Porsche tyre inflator, whilst the current MOT is valid until July 2027 and was issued with no advisories.
 
The 997 generation has become increasingly appreciated for combining relatively compact dimensions and familiar 911 characteristics with the performance and sophistication of a modern Porsche. The second-generation Turbo moved the formula on considerably and, with its 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged engine, four-wheel drive and PDK transmission, its performance remains impressive even by current standards.
