Description

This is a desirable early example of BMW's landmark R100RS, the model widely credited with pioneering the concept of the fully faired production motorcycle and setting a new standard for long-distance performance when it debuted in 1976. Conceived in the wind tunnel and tested with extraordinary thoroughness, the RS transformed the notion of what a production touring motorcycle could be. According to a previous owner, this example has been treated to a number of performance enhancements, including a 1,050 cc top end for increased power, an updated camshaft, and a braced swing-arm for improved rigidity and handling. This is a compelling and capable machine that represents the pinnacle of 1970s German engineering.
