Aston Martin DB2 Coupé | Vantage Specification

This attractive Aston Martin DB2 was delivered new to Count Charles d'Oultremont of Hainaut, Belgium, through importer Mannes, and spent its formative years in Brussels; this is confirmed by the entries in the copy of its Aston Martin service book. The car left the factory fitted with the desirable "VB6B" Vantage engine, finished in the characteristic colour Moonbeam Grey with a Red Piped Grey interior. Originally, the car was equipped with a Purolator oil filter, a manual choke and ignition advance, and a Smiths speedometer calibrated in miles per hour.

In April 1956, the car returned to England, where it was taken over by its second owner, P Parkinson Limited of Middlesbrough. Among the later owners recorded in the build history are Tony Longmate of Kings Lynn and a collector near Liège, the DB2 having returned to Belgium in 2001. The engine was overhauled in 2009 by Hampton Engines of Westhampton Beach, New York, at a total cost of $40,211. In 2011, the DB2 was auctioned in the United Kingdom and acquired by The Houtkamp Collection in the Netherlands. From there, the Aston Martin was shipped to Hong Kong a year later, before soon returning to Europe; in 2013, the owner who had consigned it brought the car back to England. It was then re-registered under the period-correct number plate "2 FYE".

On the seller's instruction, the DB2 was subsequently sent to Aston Martin specialist Trinity Engineering, who thoroughly recommissioned the car in 2014 and 2015. A detailed account of the work carried out, covering the engine, transmission, front and rear suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres, chassis, bodywork, interior, boot, and electrical components, is included in the file. The total cost of this recommissioning amounted to £67,415.

This Aston Martin DB2 presents in good condition, in no small part thanks to the thorough recommissioning carried out by Trinity Engineering in 2014 and 2015. The car holds a valid MOT (passed on 30 May 2025, valid until 29 May 2026) at a reading of 15,612 miles, and is registered on UK plates. The car comes with an extensive documentation file, including the workshop manual, the instruction book, and historical correspondence.

With its rich, well-documented history and carefully executed restoration, this DB2 is presented today as a glamorous cruiser, eminently suited to touring the roads of continental Europe.
