Description
The Philosophy: Remanufactured, Not Vulgarized:
While many high-end builders strip away Range Rover's heritage with diamond-stitched leather and modern touchscreens, Dutch Safari Co. built this RRC on an entirely different philosophy—a purist restomod. Every mechanical component and all electrical systems have been fully modernized, yet this RRC does not deviate one inch from its 1974 utilitarian aesthetic.
Unmatched Provenance – a Preserved California Body.
Unlike typical high-end builds that rely on a mosaic of donor cars, this vehicle maintains its structural provenance with its original body. During the nut-and-bolt restoration, every panel was removed and meticulously painted in its original Bahama Gold on both its interior and exterior surfaces.
Purist Aesthetics, Bespoke Luxury.
True luxury lies in restraint. Rather than utilizing a local upholsterer to install an over-the-top modern leather interior that distorts the truck's heritage, Dutch Safari Co. sourced a faithful replication of the original interior from the UK's premier Land Rover heritage supplier, Exmoor Trim.
The obsession with historical accuracy extends to the smallest details. Period-correct, “unobtanium” early-series signal lenses were hunted down and imported at a premium from NOS in Saudi Arabia, refusing the common shortcut of using later-model cheaper lenses.
This ethos carries over to every part. The wheels are custom, one-off 3-piece lightweight alloys commissioned from Image Wheels (UK). They are wider to accept modern tires, they substantially reduce unsprung mass, yet their faces are precisely machined to identically replicate the iconic look of the original narrow steel wheels.
Sympathetic 21st-Century Engineering.
The Best Powertrain: Powered by the legendary GM Gen-IV 6.0L V8 producing an optimal 360 horsepower and, more importantly, 380 lb-ft of low-end torque. This RRC is not just a horsepower titan like other LS restomods, but it is a torque King-Of-The-Hill. And the engine bay detailing is unrivaled. For example, it features a completely custom-milled aluminum air intake designed to utilize factory-style filtration rather than an unsightly cone filter other restomods slap on. The exhaust note is pure, visceral perfection from the custom-built exhaust- a full stainless system, including ceramic film-coated headers.
The Purist Gearbox: Retaining the engaging classic driving experience, the RRC features a proven off-road 5-speed manual transmission mated to a top-tier, heavy-duty Winchester Gears "American Spec" LT230 locking transfer case featuring a sleeved casing, high-capacity sump, and an Ashcroft ATB differential.
Invisible Technology: Features a hidden Volvo electric power steering system that utilizes a predictive GPS speed-sensor to automatically adjust steering sensitivity based on vehicle velocity. Cooling is managed by a high-capacity 1995 Range Rover radiator coupled to custom electric fans modulated directly by the GM ECU sensor. Massive custom development went into engineering a seamless interface between the new electronic transfer case controls and the vehicle’s original factory mechanical Hi-Low selector lever.
Chassis & Dynamics: Suspension geometry utilizes Bilstein damping and newer factory Land Rover springs, intentionally omitting sway bars for authentic off-road articulation. The rear differential features a selectable ARB Air Locker fed by a completely concealed onboard ARB air compressor system. With the quick-connect fitting to inflate tires hidden behind the original Sutty foot pump. Braking is brought into the modern era using upgraded late-model Range Rover Classic hydraulics, rotors, and calipers.
