Description

# 1936 BMW 326 Cabriolet by Drauz

**Rare coachbuilt pre-war BMW with documented history, specialist maintenance and extensive historic rally experience**

This BMW 326, chassis 76931, is a rare two-door Cabriolet with special coachwork by Drauz of Heilbronn.

The car was delivered on 14 December 1936 to BMW dealer Brenner & Sohn in Berlin. It later spent a period in Czechoslovakia before returning to Germany in June 1989.

In November 1999, the car was acquired by its previous long-term owner, who had been introduced to the former owner through Mr Drauz Junior. It subsequently underwent a comprehensive frame-off restoration prior to 2012. As part of the restoration, the engine was overhauled, the electrical system converted to 12 volts and the original Hurth gearbox replaced by a fully synchronised four-speed Volvo gearbox, making the car considerably more comfortable to use in modern traffic and on longer tours.

Today, the BMW presents as a well-maintained and highly usable pre-war touring car rather than a purely static collection piece.

## Documented rally history

The car has a long history of active participation in historic motoring events.

Under previous ownership, chassis 76931 participated in events including the Südtirol Klassik, Vino Miglia, Baden-Württemberg-Klassik and Sachs-Franken-Klassik.

Under its current ownership, the BMW continued to be used as intended. During the 2025 season it participated in:

• Franken Classic
• Eggentaler Herbst Classic
• ADAC Marienberg Würzburg

The car has proved to be a reliable and enjoyable historic rally and touring car.

For regularity rally use, professional wiring, wheel-speed sensor and GPS installations for a Monit G-200+ tripmeter system have been fitted. The installation is fully functional and ready for the corresponding Monit unit. The Monit G-200+ display unit itself is not included in the sale.

## Specialist maintained by Feierabend

The BMW has been maintained and extensively serviced by Feierabend GmbH in Würzburg, a long-established German specialist with particular expertise in pre-war BMW automobiles.

Extensive work was carried out in 2024 and 2025 with the objective of making the car technically reliable and genuinely usable.

Among other work, the braking system received new wheel cylinders and brake hoses, the master cylinder was overhauled, the brake drums inspected and cleaned, the brake linings attended to and the complete braking system adjusted and tested.

Further work included servicing and adjustment of the chassis, steering, suspension, engine and drivetrain, together with carburettor, ignition and electrical work. The fuel gauge was replaced with a new unit in original appearance.

Before and after its 2025 rally appearances, the BMW was inspected, serviced and prepared by Feierabend.

Since completion of this work, the car has performed without complaint.

## Condition and valuation

An independent TÜV Rheinland/FSP valuation carried out in October 2024 assessed the BMW at **Condition Grade 2**.

The report specifically noted the good overall condition, technically good state of the vehicle and its specialist maintenance.

The body was rated 2-, with good underlying structure and no visible corrosion noted during the inspection. The blue interior was rated 2 and described as well maintained and authentic in appearance. The mechanical condition was rated 2+.

The valuation established:

**Market value: €120,000**
**Replacement value: €135,000**

Significant further specialist maintenance and rally preparation was carried out after this valuation during 2025.
