Volkswagen T3 Caravelle Syncro, 1988. One owner, 61,537 km, service books from new.
If there is one van that carries the DNA of freedom, adventure and reliability in its very bodywork, it is the Volkswagen Caravelle T3. In 1979 Volkswagen began production of the T3, the successor to the legendary T1 and T2. The T3 stood for renewal: more angular design, more space, modern engineering, yet still faithful to the charm of its predecessors.
The Syncro version, which arrived on the market in 1985, was a genuine game-changer. Working together with Austria's Steyr-Daimler-Puch, Volkswagen developed an advanced four-wheel drive system that turned this van into a proper off-road machine. This made the T3 Syncro particularly beloved among mountain rescue services, travellers and adventurers alike.
Our specific 1988 version, with a mere 61,537 kilometres on the clock, hails from carefully-minded Switzerland and remains in as-new condition: an almost impossible combination to find.
Driving this Volkswagen Caravelle T3 Syncro is like rediscovering freedom itself. The moment you climb in, you feel the solid construction all around you, not crude but robust, as though this van was built to take on the world. The Marine Blue exterior gleams in the daylight, while the black interior carries you back to a time when simplicity and quality came first.
The story continues on our website, where the full file is kept as well. 61 photographs. The service history, scanned in full. Paint thickness measured panel by panel. The original factory brochure to page through. A timeline from 25 April 1988 to today, with every owner and the mileage year by year in a single graph.
