The Enchanting Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S: A Rare Jewel

Rarely has the team at HooG Selections been more fired up than for this acquisition. A Maserati Quattroporte from the fifth model generation. Lovely, we can almost hear you thinking, there are plenty of those about! Rest assured, of the ultimate Sport GT S specification (with a space between GT and S!) just 1,847 were built, and in this outrageous colour combination far, far fewer.

A Heritage of Italian Fire

The fifth generation of the Maserati Quattroporte, penned by Pininfarina, made its debut in September 2003 at the IAA in Frankfurt. Considerably larger and, frankly, no longer comparable to its predecessor in any way, the Quattroporte was initially offered with the familiar 4.2 V8 producing 400 bhp, mated to a robotised manual gearbox called 'Cambiocorsa'. And although the design of both exterior and interior, the gorgeous and creamy Ferrari V8 and its driving characteristics were an immediate hit, that aforementioned gearbox rather spoiled the party.

A Symphony on Wheels: The Experience of Driving the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S

Fortunately, the Italians came to realise that the Quattroporte could only become a true success with a conventional automatic, and so it came to pass that, from model year 2007 onwards, a wonderfully shifting ZF 6-speed automatic could be offered. And it got even better, because 2 model years later, from production year 2008, the so-called Quattroporte S was fitted with the new 4.7 V8 delivering 430 instead of 400 bhp and, more importantly, with more torque: 490 instead of 450 Nm.

An Emotional Rollercoaster on Four Wheels

But now let us leap ahead to the year 2021 and our Quattroporte Sport GT S, once again the ultimate specification. Although fitted with the same 4.7 V8, ZF six-speed automatic and just 10 bhp more than the S, this Sport GT S is an entirely different car. No more chromed round exhaust pipes, but two enormous anthracite-coloured, flat exhaust trims define the Sport GT S. And it just so happens that the exhaust system is the very attraction of this Quattroporte.

The Opera of Sound and Speed

In its normal setting absolutely potent yet very civilised in tone, until the driver presses the 'Sport' button on the dashboard. Then this Quattroporte transforms from a distinguished luxury flagship saloon into a genuine sports car, no, a super car! In truth, the sensation created by this transformation in the car's sound simply cannot be captured in words. The combination of the exhaust note and the V8, sounding ever more fiery as the revs climb, is utterly without equal.

A Love Letter to Italian Elegance

The enormous smile of the wonderfully talented actor Omar Sy lifts but a corner of the veil on the emotion this Quattroporte evokes. Forgive the present author, who is also your adviser on this car: it is more than worth your while to watch the clip, or better still the entire film. The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S shown here, delivered new by Ferrari-Maserati Antwerp, abbreviated to FMA, is finished in the beautiful colour 'Grigio Granito'.

An Italian Romance on Four Wheels

This deep dark-grey metallic hue combines fantastically with the full-leather interior finished in 'Sabbia', complemented by particularly handsome wood trim in Bois de Rose and gorgeously soft-to-the-touch alcantara headlining in 'Pearl Beige'. You can see where this is going: all that is missing is an impeccably chosen Italian outfit with pieces by Finamore, Incotex, Boglioli and Santoni.

An Invitation to a Drive Full of Passion

It should be clear that the history of this Maserati reads just as smoothly as this hymn of praise. The service booklet is nothing short of fully stamped, which is confirmed by the overall condition in which the Quattroporte finds itself. Flawless.

An Appointment with Italian Perfection

Though with a heavy heart, we have nonetheless decided that there had to come a moment to publish this advertisement and the accompanying photographs. Has your enthusiasm been stirred? Then make an appointment and come for an audience with our specialist.

Some cars are means of transport. This one is a confession.
