Origins and development

Springing from the Alfa Romeo Giulia Berlina launched in 1962, the sporty-looking Sprint GT arrived in 1963, styled by Bertone. The Sprint GT became a runaway success for Alfa Romeo and was offered in various (closed) guises such as the 1300 Junior, the 1750 GTV and the 2000 GTV.

In 1964 the GTC, the convertible version of the Sprint GT, was presented to the public. Its full name was the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTC. This cabriolet variant, designed by the renowned Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, is a study in simplicity and elegance. Between 1964 and 1966 just 998 examples of the GTC were built, making it instantly one of the rarest variants in the Giulia and Giulietta range.

Technical specifications

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTC is fitted with a 1,570 cc four-cylinder engine producing 106 bhp. Like the closed versions, the GTC delivers an entertaining and dynamic drive. The modifications carried out by Carrozzeria Touring include a strengthened floor, a redesigned bootlid with a larger luggage compartment beneath it, and different rear lights. These technical improvements all add to the unique driving experience the GTC offers.

History and rarity

The example offered by HooG Selections comes from America. Quite apart from the fact that the GTC is already a very rare car, it is all the more special that this GTC has remained in the hands of one and the same family since the 1970s. This unbroken ownership history adds to the car's authenticity and value.

Alfa Romeo facts

Alfa Romeo was founded in 1910 in Milan, Italy, and has enjoyed a rich history of innovation and motorsport ever since.
The name "Alfa" stands for "Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili," which translates as "Lombardy Automobile Factory."

Alfa Romeo boasts an impressive motorsport record, including successes in Formula 1 and the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The marque is renowned for its stylish designs and advanced engineering, qualities that have made Alfa Romeo cars beloved by enthusiasts the world over.

Visit HooG Selections

Are you ready to meet one of the loveliest Italian classics of the 1960s? You are warmly invited to view it in our showroom in Katwijk aan Zee! Experience the elegance and driving pleasure of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTC for yourself and let its timeless charm work its magic on you.

This GTC is still here. It starts, it drives, it breathes. In a car weighing barely 1,130 kilos, the 122 bhp feel like considerably more. The five-speed shifts with that typical Alfa precision that modern gearboxes forgot about long ago. And when you drop the top and feel the sun on your face while that four-cylinder sings its song, you understand why Clarkson was right.

Some cars you buy to own. This one you buy to live with.

Between two espressos and a sigh of longing,
Nick Slinger
