Der Mercedes 300 SL Roadster wurde 1957 als offener Nachfolger berühmten 300 SL Coupes ( Flügeltürer ) vorgestellt. Insgesamt entstanden zwischen 1957 und 1963 nur 1.858 Exemplare, ab 1961 wurden die Roadster mit Scheibenbremsen ausgerüstet. Der 300 SL Roadster zählt heute zu den begehrtesten und wertvollsten Klassikern der Automobilgeschichte.

Der hier präsentierte 300 SL Roadster ist  einer von nur 261 Exemplaren mit werksseitig verbauten Scheibenbremsen und Graugussmotor. Gemäss der vorliegenden Mercedes-Benz Datenkarte wurde dieser 300 SL ursprünglich in weiss ( 050 )mit Leder natur ( 204 ) ausgeliefert. Die Innenausstattung entspricht also der Originalkonfiguration - nur die Aussenfarbe wurde geändert. Der Nummernreport bestätigt die Übereinstimmung der eingeschlagenen Nummern aller technischen Baugruppen ( Motor, Getriebe, Lenkgetriebe, Hinterachse und die Vorderachshälften links und rechts ) mit der Datenkarte von Mercedes-Benz. Die Historie des Fahrzeuges während seines Aufenthaltes in den USA ist durch einen Register-Auszug der 300 SL Gullwing Group gut dokumentiert und umfasst insgesamt nur 5 Besitzer. Der 300 SL Roadster wurde von verschiedenen 300 SL Experten ( Paul Russell & Company, Scott Grundfor und auch Precision Autoworks ) in den USA restauriert. Im Jahre 2017 gelangte der Wagen durch eine Auktion über die Niederlande nach Deutschland und befindet sich seitdem im Besitz eines deutschen Sammlers.

Zum Fahrzeug gehört das seltene Hardtop und auch ein passender Koffersatz.

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster was introduced in 1957 as the open-top successor to the legendary 300 SL Gullwing. With just 1.858 examples produced between 1957 and 1963, it is among the most desirable and valuable classic car in the automotive history. In the last years of procuction  the cars were equipped with disc brakes - only 261 cars fitted with disc brakes and iron cast engine left the factory.

The Mercedes 300 SL Roadster presented here is one of these 261 cars. According to the original factory datacard from Mercedes-Benz, this car was delivered new to the US in white ( 050 with leather nature ( 204 ). The interior configuration is as original - only the the bodycolour was changed. The accompanying numbers report confirms that all of the major technical components ( engine, gearbox, steering box, rear axle and also left and right sides of the front axle ) correspond with the numbers documented on the Mercedes-Benz factory datacard ( matching numbers ).

A registre extract from the US Gullwing Group confirms the ownership history till 2017 with a total of only 5 registred owners. In the time till 2017 this car was restored by several US 300 SL Experts ( Paul Russell & Company, Scott Grundfor, Precision Autoworks ). In 2017 this Roadster was sold to Europe and found its way to a german collector who owns it since then.

The car is accompanied by the rare factory Hardtop and a matching luggage set.
