A piece of motorcycling history: a 1953 Norton Manx 350 (Model 40M) (Frame Series 48800). This example dates back to the golden age of the short-stroke engine, mounted on the legendary Featherbed frame.
The motorcycle has undergone a complete, high-quality conservative and mechanical restoration.
The twin-cam engine has been overhauled to its original period specifications. The chassis and bodywork (fuel tank and fairings) are in excellent condition, ready for display in a collection or use in historic events (re-enactments, historic GPs).
The motorcycle comes with an authentic period racing sidecar. The sidecar is currently in need of restoration, representing a unique opportunity for an enthusiast to bring a complete racing outfit with a priceless original patina back to the track or for display.
The Norton Manx 350 is renowned for its handling and success at the Tourist Trophy.
The Sidecar: An authentic Watsonian Sidecat, the torpedo-shaped sidecar that dominated sidecar racing in the 1950s. The C-series frame confirms its membership in the Watsonian specialist production of the time. The sidecar is preserved and ready for restoration, offering the perfect complement to an already flawless motorcycle.
The combination with an original sidecar from the same period makes this lot extremely rare on the international market.
