Description
Among the most striking products of the Giulietta line, the Sprint Speciale paired Bertone’s curvaceous coachwork, influenced by Touring’s Disco Volante, with Veloce mechanical specification of a high-compression 1.3-liter twin-cam four with performance camshafts and twin Weber carburetors. Just 1,366 examples were built.
This Giulietta Sprint Speciale was completed in October 1961, and ordered by an Englishman who had admired the model while on holiday in Italy. Then living in Malaysia, he took delivery there and kept the car for seven years before returning to the UK in 1968. He used the car sparingly until his passing in 1971, after which his widow stored it until 2010, when it underwent a restoration. A later owner imported the car to the US in 2012, finishing the work with long-distance touring in mind.
The restoration included a bare-metal repaint in the original color, an engine rebuild by RM Restorations of Chiswick, UK, and a new interior by Auto Weave, employing the correct seat fabric and headliner. The car also received work on the brakes, gearbox, and suspension, with high-performance components from Alfa West. An enduring icon of mid-century Italian design, this delightful Giulietta is offered with a tool roll, and jack and is certain to delight its next owner.
