Description

In September 1959, the 356 A was succeeded by the extensively redesigned 356 B. This new generation, known as the “T5”, featured a modernized design with higher-mounted bumpers, repositioned headlights, and an elegant, timeless silhouette. At the rear sat a 1,582 cc air-cooled flat-four engine producing 75 horsepower in its “Super” specification, offering enhanced performance over the standard version while retaining the flexibility and reliability for which the model had become renowned. A true symbol of Porsche’s golden era, the 356 B 1600 Super is admired for its remarkable balance of sportiness, refinement, and everyday usability, already foreshadowing the spirit that would later define the 911.

The example we are pleased to present today is a Porsche 356 B 1600 Super, delivered new by Competition Motors of Hollywood (USA) in July 1960 and showing just under 12,000 kilometers on the odometer. The car has benefited from a comprehensive restoration carried out in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s original specifications. Every stage of the work was carefully documented through an extensive photographic record, providing a detailed account of the restoration process and the scope of the work undertaken. This restoration reflects the particular care devoted to preserving both the car’s authenticity and its original character.
This Porsche 356 B 1600 Super is finished in elegant “Reihergrau” (Heron Grey), a subtle and sophisticated color that perfectly highlights the model’s timeless lines. It is complemented by a “Kunstblau” interior and matching soft top, creating a particularly attractive contrast that remains faithful to the spirit of the factory color combinations offered by Porsche in the early 1960s. The result is a presentation that is stylish, rare, and highly desirable, certain to appeal to discerning Porsche enthusiasts and collectors alike.

The car is available for viewing by appointment, either in person or virtually, in our showroom. Please do not hesitate to request a video presentation or a digital copy of the historical file, which we will be delighted to provide.
