• Excellent restoration project.
• Iconic model from the brand with the star.
Introduced in the second half of the 1960s, the Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Cabriolet represents the final evolution of the W111 series in its convertible form. Produced until 1971, it follows in the tradition of the grand Mercedes-Benz convertibles built to exceptionally high manufacturing standards and intended for a clientele seeking comfort, build quality, and long-distance driving. Based on the platform of the W111 coupes and convertibles, distinct from the sedans in the lineup, the 280 SE was equipped starting in 1968 with the 2,778 cc M130 inline-six engine featuring Bosch mechanical fuel injection, producing 160 horsepower.
This example is in need of restoration. The car comes with its engine and retains its upholstery, providing a foundation for restoration. A complete restoration will need to be considered depending on the level of detail desired by its future owner.
Designed under the direction of Paul Bracq, the W111 features balanced proportions and a silhouette characteristic of Mercedes-Benz models from this period. Its interior, designed to accommodate four occupants, is distinguished by a quality of craftsmanship and a level of finish consistent with the brand’s standards in the late 1960s.
