Description
The third Spider built, the first aluminum car and a special order by Ernie McAfee for competition use in the SCCA Championship. Many special features make the car different from the later street versions. McAfee tuned and prepared the spider for the Carrera PanAmericana Road Race in which he participated in 1953. The car was recently concourse restored to these specifications by Italian experts. Road equipment is also available (full windshied, softop bowls and original softop etc.. ) for more comfortable touring. Eligible for all major events, racing, rallying or showing, BS*503* was invited at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concourse of Elegance and is now eligible as a candidate for the 2026 special class "Cars that raced in the Pebble Beach Road Race" (which it did in 1954). BS*503 has it's original matching numbers engine and original 5-speed gearbox. It was never involved in a serious crash and retains it's original aluminum body. The spider is intensively documented with period articles and pictures and appeared on the front cover of Road & Track magazine. 14 races in the SCCA Championship, documented with pictures. Please ask if interested.
