5 collector cars to put in your garage this week

A Porsche 935 that never raced, an ultimate Mercedes-Benz R129 SL, a 996 Porsche with Japanese-inspired aura, a Group B power dwarf that tackled tarmac rallies in Ireland and Britain – complemented by a Ferrari of the golden GT era, these rare muscle cars make up this week's market finds.

Final hurrah of the 935

This black monster was the second of only two 935 K4s built by the Cologne-based Kremer brothers. But contrary to Chassis 01, which was extensively raced both in Europe and later in the US, it never took part in a race. After 02 had been delivered to Interscope Racing during the 1981 IMSA season, team owner Ted Field chose one of the new Lola T600 prototypes as his preferred choice and put the K4 in storage.

After several changes of ownership, Bruce Canepa acquired the K4 in 2018 with a clear vision to return this 800+ horsepower 935 to its original as-delivered specs. To start with, his craftsmen refinished every individual aluminium chassis tube until they all appeared as new. The 3.2-litre twin-turbo flat-six was completely rebuilt, as were all bodywork parts, suspension components and many other parts. Now K4/02 is as mechanically perfect as when it left Cologne. This perhaps most aggressive 935 ever built is up for sale for the first time in eight years. After its restoration it was revealed publicly for the first time at the 2026 Air | Water Show in Costa Mesa. With a still menacing presence it is now ready to leave most historic racers in its dust.

Moving Italian sculpture

A Ferrari 275 GTB/4 epitomises a golden GT era, where style and speed coexisted in perfect harmony. With a timeless body by Pininfarina, put in shape by the great panel beaters at Scaglietti, and technological highlights like the first Ferrari four-cam V12, independent rear suspension and a transaxle layout for ideal weight distribution. All these virtues also apply to this gorgeous 1967 example, gleaming in its original delivery colour Grigio Argento over Black Connolly leather.

But what lets this car really stand out is its exceptional overall condition and the high degree of authenticity, confirmed by the Ferrari Classiche Certification. The last owner began a careful, sympathetic restoration kicking off with a repaint that alone spanned more than 12 months. Invoices totalling over €125,000 from between 2012 and 2016 prove how much effort went into bringing one of Ferrari's most iconic berlinettas not only back to mechanical perfection but to its former glory in general. Currently displaying 54,800 km, with just over 10,000 km covered since the engine rebuild, this 275 GTB/4 is now on sale in Monaco. As a concession to modernity, power steering was installed – in the seller's view indispensable for modern road traffic.

Maximum Metro

The MG Metro 6R4 belongs to the band of brutal Group B rally powerhouses but, with a launch in May 1985, joined the party rather late. Equipped with a rear-mounted normally aspirated 2.9-litre V6 developed by Williams Grand Prix Engineering, the compact power dwarf sent up to 410 hp through a five-speed manual gearbox to both front and rear axles. As was the case with all Group B monsters, the design only vaguely resembled their road car siblings – in this case the MG Metro supermini. Instead, the 6R4 (for 6 cylinders, Rally and 4-wheel drive) featured large wheel extensions, mighty front and rear spoilers and a fibreglass body with huge air inlets.

Although Austin Rover campaigned the 6R4 as a works outfit on the WRC stage, it was also very popular with private teams and drivers competing in the European or national series. One of them was Billy Coleman, one of Ireland's most prominent and successful rally drivers, who in 1986 entered this very example in classic tarmac rallies like the Donegal and Manx. In splendid Rothmans colours it is now on offer by Tom Hartley Jnr.

Not your ordinary 996 Turbo

Even a standard 996 Turbo automatically draws attention, full stop. But this example in PTS Special Cobalt Blue Metallic with a Sonderwunsch Savannah Beige full leather interior, low mileage and an exceptionally good overall condition really steals the show. It was delivered new to Japan in 2002 – a car market known for its love of tasteful colours, rich interiors and specific Exclusive options, exemplified by this one with a carbon centre stack, dashboard trim and instrument surround. Exactly the kind of details that appeal to real enthusiasts. Powered by the 3.6-litre Mezger twin-turbo engine producing 420 hp and linked to a Tiptronic S transmission, this modern classic not only guarantees sheer 911-style driving pleasure but also shows off with the right stance, the correct engine and above all an honest, no-frills attitude.

The beast of Bottrop

Performance without compromise – that was the mantra of Bodo Buschmann, late founder of famed German tuning powerhouse Brabus from Bottrop in the Ruhr area. From a Mercedes-Benz 190 to an S-class and even a G-class, he shamelessly used to push every silver star model far beyond its factory limits while maintaining factory-level refinement and craftsmanship. In 1995 Brabus unveiled its most radical creation so far: the SL 7.3 S V12, soon nicknamed "the beast of Bottrop". To harness the 582 hp of the engine, Brabus had to reinforce the 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission and upgrade the chassis and major support systems to match the extraordinary performance capabilities. Only very few of these ultimate R129 SLs were built until 2001, among them this 1999 model in Azurite Blue Metallic over Saffron Nappa leather.

The LHD convertible comes with optional Brabus equipment including a 330 kph speedo, sport suspension, Alcon big brake system, Monoblock IV wheels, sports exhaust system and revised front bumper. In 2021 this 7.3 S was acquired from its last Monaco-based owner by the consignor. At cataloguing time it had fewer than 47,000 km on the clock and, accompanied by a Brabus Certification, now goes under the hammer at RM Sotheby's Sealed June Event. A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most celebrated machines ever to emerge from Bottrop.
