Between 1995 and 2001, Brabus transformed Mercedes-Benz's flagship R129 roadster into a genuine supercar, powered by a heavily reworked 7.3-litre M120 V-12 producing 582 PS.

One of very few examples produced, this German-market 7.3S V12 was converted when new at Brabus in Bottrop, on behalf of authorised Brabus dealer Rütz GmbH in Essen. Beyond the 7.3S powertrain, Brabus also fitted an uprated suspension, staggered 18-inch three-piece Monoblock III wheels, a sports exhaust, Alcon big brake system, and aero kit. The conversion was approved by the Essen TÜV on 13 June 1996, with first registration following on 12 July 1996 in Warendorf, wearing the licence plate "WAF-LR1".

In 1999, Rütz upgraded the car with a 300-kmh Brabus speedometer; the 66,350 kilometres shown on the original unit were not carried over to the new one, which read 78,946 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. By April 2003, the 7.3S V12 had passed to its third owner, registered in Passau as “PA-XU3”. Throughout the previous owner's tenure, the car was maintained exclusively by authorised Mercedes-Benz service centres and by Rütz GmbH, who by then had relocated from Essen to Frankfurt.

Acquired by the Osterhofen-based consigning owner in May 2025 from the third owner, this incredible Brabus 7.3S V12 still ranks among the fastest convertibles in the world while retaining the effortless comfort and grand touring character that defined the SL platform.
