Ferrari 400i with a soft top
Ferrari only offered the 400 and 412 series as closed four-seater coupés from the factory. However, the demand for an open-top version created a lucrative niche for coachbuilders specializing in exclusive convertible conversions. One example was CON-MODA GmbH (also known as Karosseriebau Stommel) from Cologne, which cut the roofs off around 100 Honda Prelude EX models as well as several Range Rovers and Ferrari 400/400i units in the 1980s. This includes this 1977 400i, one of only 883 cars featuring the three-speed automatic sourced from GM. Like the manual versions, its engine was fed by fuel injection (Bosch K-Jetronic) instead of a battery of carburetors, a first for Ferrari.
This classic 2+2-seater Ferrari Grand Tourer in Pininfarina’s understated wedge design with pop-up headlights is finished in the non-traditional shade of Olive Green, complemented by a green, gracefully patinated Connolly leather interior. With 77,961 kilometers on the clock and a complete owner history, the car offered in Belgium is ready to drop its top for the next spell of good weather.
Rare two-tone Roadster with a V8 Groove
The Z8, styled by Henrik Fisker, remains one of BMW’s most iconic roadsters. At its premiere in 2000, it echoed the legendary BMW 507 from the mid-1950s. Beyond its classic proportions of a long hood and short tail, as well as an interior with centrally mounted gauges, it stood out with its engine: a 4.9-liter naturally aspirated V8 producing 400 hp. This 2002 model, first registered in Germany, is one of only eleven units finished in the bi-color special paint "Stratus Grey Metallic/Ivory" by the BMW Individual department.
Offered by Axel Schuette with a hardtop, factory delivery book, complete service history and further accessories, this Z8 has covered 34,000 kilometers and is now waiting for its next owner. Given that only 5,703 units were built, including 555 Alpina Z8s, the buyer will acquire a rare jewel that combines the old BMW slogan "Sheer Driving Pleasure" with a V8 engine of American character, free from excessive electronic intervention.
A Wedge from the desert
A quick trivia question: what is even rarer than one of only 321 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S models? The answer is this 1983 example, the first of only five in "Oro Sahara." As a European version, it is equipped with six Weber carburetors, which extracted 20 percent more power from the nearly five-liter V12 compared to the fuel-injected American versions. This car, featuring a Champagne leather interior, was restored to original specifications by the Milanese firm Caiarti, specialists in high-end Italian sports car restoration, on behalf of Lamborghini Polo Storico. After work was completed in 2022, the 5000 S took part in the Polo Storico 60 Giro in 2023, a factory-supported tour for historic Lamborghinis of all eras.
The fact that this Countach shines in a Sahara look may be due to it spending its early years in Saudi Arabia, before a British employee of Saudia Airlines brought it to the UK. While 5000 S models with carbureted engines are among the most sought-after Countachs, this example in concours quality, sold by RM Sotheby’s with around 35,000 kilometers, would be the crown jewel of any Lamborghini collection.
With the DNA of Lancia's rally dominator
A Lancia Delta Integrale Futurista by Automobili Amos is a favorite among the Classic Driver editorial team. It takes us back to the heyday of the Delta Integrale, which once dominated the rally scene. Eugenio Amos, along with Borromeo de Silva (Design) and Podium Advanced Technologies (Engineering), has created an uncompromising reinterpretation of the Delta for the 2020s.
Thanks to the "Cofango" front end, where the hood and fenders lift as a single unit, and the use of carbon fiber, the weight has been reduced to just 1,250 kg. The rear doors were removed to create a true three-door car that captures the spirit of the Delta S4. It features 330 hp and, of course, all-wheel drive.
This model is number 14 of the limited series of 20 units. It is finished in the stunning color Zell Blue over red bucket seats in leather and Alcantara. Delivered in 2022 and with only 1,960 kilometers on the odometer, it is barely broken in and is now offered by Casa GTO with a second set of wheels (including winter tires) and TÜV certification. Why wait?
BMW Z4 with the flair of the 50s
This roadster was born out of reverence for a great rock 'n' roll star and a love for the BMW 507, the car that this rockstar drove during his time as a GI in Germany. You can guess who that was: yes, Elvis Presley. The result is a retro convertible based on the BMW Z4, though not much remains of the original bodywork. Instead, the "Tender 5.7" by Estella Fahrzeugtechnik from Baden-Württemberg is clothed in new body panels made entirely of carbon fiber, featuring a front mask and taillights that reference the 507.
Under the hood sits the straight-six engine from the Z4 M40i, whose output has been increased to an impressive 476 hp from the standard 340 hp thanks to a larger turbocharger and a Bastuck exhaust system. The designation "5.7" is likely a nod to the classic predecessor rather than the displacement, while "Tender" refers to one of the biggest hits by the "King of Rock 'n' Roll."
Estella plans to build 15 of these retro roadsters worldwide. According to the manufacturer, five are finished, one is sold, and the others, including this 2025 example in Frozen Grey Matt, are available at special conditions. It’s now or never?
