Description

William I'Anson Ltd are excited to announce for sale The Ex -Works, Five Time Grand Prix Podium Finishing, Multiple Race Winning, 1965 Brabham – Climax BT11, 1.5 Litre V8 Formula 1.

Constructed at the end of the 1964 season, F1-2-64 was campaigned as a Works Brabham during the 1965 Formula 1 Season, driven by leading drivers Dan Gurney, Denny Hulme and Sir Jack Brabham, and scoring multiple podium finishes at the likes of Zandvoort, Nürburgring, Monza, Watkins Glen and Mexico City.

Sold to Aldo Scribante at the end of 1965, fitted with a 2.7-litre Coventry Climax FPF engine and raced with great success in South Africa, firstly by Jack Brabham under the Scuderia Scribante banner to victory in the Rand Grand Prix in 1965, before handing the car over to Dave Charlton in 1966.

Over the ensuing 5 years the car won multiple major events, including the Coupe Gouvernador Genérale and Bulawayo “100” and remained a front-running contender in both 2.7-Litre Coventry Climax FPF and later Repco 620 V8 configurations.

Following its South African career, the car was repatriated to the UK in the 1990s by John Harper, raced for David Pennell by Richard Attwood, and rebuilt by celebrated engineer Stuart Davey. Sold to and raced by well known collector José Albuquerque, before being acquired by the current owner in 2009.

Running in its 2.7-litre Coventry Climax FPF specification, in his hands it has proven to be the car to beat in the HGPCA, consistently running at the front of the grid achieving numerous race victories across Europe.

In recent years, F1-2-64 has undergone a comprehensive restoration to 1965 Formula One specification and is now fitted with a new Sid Hoole built, 1.5-litre Coventry Climax V8 and HD5 gearbox. Fresh from restoration and with current FIA HTP papers.

This is an ideal opportunity to enter the leading historic motor racing events such as the Monaco Grand Prix Historique, Goodwood Revival’s prestigious Glover Trophy and of course racing with the HGPCA, in one of the ultimate specification 1.5-litre V8 Grand Prix cars.
