A Mercedes-powered rocket fires back to life

Few cars in the history of Formula 1 carry the emotional weight of the Brawn BGP001. Bought for £1 from the ashes of Honda's collapsed programme, it stormed to six victories in the first seven races of the 2009 season and delivered Jenson Button one of sport's most unlikely World Championships. Now, barely five months after hanging up his helmet for good following his World Endurance Championship farewell, Button is climbing back into the cockpit for a demonstration at Goodwood. It will be the first time the 2009 champion has ever driven the BGP001 around the Motor Circuit, making this a genuinely once-in-a-generation spectacle. Throwback to the heyday of the British Touring Car Championship

Forget tidy processions. The Super Touring Shoot-Out is exactly as chaotic as it sounds. Following the success of last year's GT3 equivalent, the Members' Meeting returns with a full-blooded one-lap battle featuring the greatest touring cars of the 1990s. At least 40 cars will fill the paddocks, while around 20 will be let loose on the Motor Circuit itself across both days. Renault Lagunas co-developed by Williams Grand Prix Engineering, BMW E36s, Alfa Romeo 155s, Peugeot 406s and more, all scrapping for BTCC supremacy. Practice and qualifying land on Saturday, the final on Sunday.

Hunt and Sheene: Honouring Britain's racing icons of the 70s

In 2026, Goodwood is marking the 50th anniversary of Barry Sheene's first 500cc World Championship across all three of its motorsport events, and the Members' Meeting is where the party begins. The weekend will feature the first ever motorcycle demonstration at the Members' Meeting, with a collection of 20 to 30 Grand Prix bikes from the era of Sheene's 500cc career lining up to thunder around the circuit. Alongside the two-wheeled tribute, the event will also celebrate the life and legacy of James Hunt, Sheene's great contemporary and kindred spirit, recreating the peak of 1970s British motorsport on both two and four wheels.

Beyond the headline acts, the race programme itself is a masterclass in close, wheel-to-wheel combat. The Bruce McLaren Trophy for pre-1966 GT and sports-racing cars, the Derek Bell Cup for Formula 3 single-seaters, the Varzi Trophy, the Phil Hill Cup, the Hailwood Trophy featuring the Sheene Trophy — each race carries a story, a name, a legacy. Drivers do not tiptoe around priceless machinery here.
