📜History:
The Facel Véga Facel II (type HK2), produced from 1961 to 1964, left its mark on its era. This French grand tourer succeeded the HK 500 coupe and was quickly hailed by the international press, which considered it the most beautiful post-war French car and the fastest four-seat coupe in the world.
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 1961, its sleek lines immediately won over the public. Its elegance was often compared to the designs of the greatest Italian stylists. Long and low, the Facel II features a roof of great finesse, adorned with stainless steel inserts. New headlights were installed—the Megalux, created specifically by Marchal for Facel Vega.
This model is extremely rare; the manufacturer reports having produced only 184 units.
🇺🇲 This Facel was delivered new in 1962 from the factory to its first owner in the United States.
🇫🇷 It returned to France in 1995. This model underwent a complete restoration that lasted two years (supported by a photo portfolio). Its current owner purchased it in 2005.
This car is in very good overall condition.
🚘 The bodywork on this Facel is well-preserved. The gray paint is smooth and looks great. There are a few very light scratches. The Borani spoke wheels and headlights are in good condition. The chrome trim is free of pitting and has a nice shine.
Inside, the blue leather seats are in good condition. There are some signs of wear on the leather in several places, but this is consistent with the car’s age. The painted dashboard is in good condition. The checkered leather headliner is taut. The instrument panel is functional. The car is equipped with a PO-GO radio and a magnificent Nardi mahogany steering wheel.
The original Chrysler 6.3-liter V8 engine, known as the “Typhoon TY8,” was overhauled during the restoration. It starts and runs normally. The owner states that the car is maintained very regularly. The “TorqueFlite” automatic transmission provides smooth gear changes. The powertrain allows the car to reach speeds of nearly 230 km/h. Braking is power-assisted and features four-wheel disc brakes. The car handles very well on the road.
