5 collector cars to put into your garage this week

The festive season is truly among us, meaning the chance to treat yourself or a loved one to a new set of wheels is stronger than ever. Rest assured, the Classic Driver Market has a vehicle for even the pickiest of gift receievers!

If Abu Dhabi had wheels

Completed by Singer’s Classic services in late 2017 after a 4,000-plus hour transformation, this example of the heavily customised Porsche 964 was commissioned as a celebration of Abu Dhabi’s vibrancy and culture. Finshed in Delicate Blue with a Saddle Sand interior, it of course features the brand’s symphonic 4.0-litre flat six, good for 390 horsepower and mated to a close ratio six speed manual gearbox. While every Singer is special, this unique creation saw the optional extras list surpass a staggering $200,000, showcased by woven leather dashboard fascias, carbon fibre roof, integrated leather wrapped roll bar, and 917 inspired wooden shift knob. Fancy owning it? You’ll need to raise your hand at RM Sotheby’s inaugural Collectors’ Week, where it’ll be auctioned alongside other stunning vehicles, jewellery and fine art!

Edition Pur-fect

Part of the joy of owning an adventure-inducing vehicle is in the vast array of parts available to ensure your vehicle suits your needs and your style. Whether it’s an apocalypse-ready Defender or sand-hungry Land Cruiser, a quick search online can turn a standard off-roader into the ultimate all-terrain vehicle. That’s also true for the G-Wagen, one of the world’s most capable off-roaders straight from the factory, but this example ensures you’ll be able to pitch a tent in just about any location. Known as the Edition Pur, this G is powered by Mercedes’ mighty 3.0-litre V6, good for nearly 200 horsepower but crucially, over 400 Nm of torque should you need it. Being an official Mercedes-Benz creation, built to celebrate 30 years of the loveable G back in 2009, this example is fully loaded with adventure goodies, such as the roof rack, strengthened wheels, snorkel and much, much more!

Feel the Rush

Long considered the ‘original supercar’, the Lamborghini Miura is the motoring landmark which set the template and inspired all supercars which followed, not just from Lamborghini, but from almost every brand itching to throw their hat into the ring. There will only ever be one Miura, though, a car oozing with swagger and charisma, offering a driving experience guaranteed to leave you desperate for more. Like so many Miuras, this example would eventually find its way into famous ownership when it was acquired by Neil Peart of the Canadian rock group Rush, giving even more stardom to this iconic machine!

One car to do it all

We often talk of what makes the perfect daily driver. Practical, powerful when needed, comfortable, and above all, the sort of car you’d take a look back at when you park it outside the office. This BMW M5 Competition, in our humble opinion, ticks all of the boxes and then some. Painted in the stunning Goodwood Green combined with a Tartuffo leather interior, and comes equipped with a M Sport exhaust system, a carbon fibre engine cover, a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and fully electric seats for complete comfort all around. Whether it’s a quick run to the local cars and coffee morning, or a cross-country jaunt, this BMW can do it all in style!

8 Litres of Fury

Built with the sole purpose of taking the outer circuit lap record at the formidable Brooklands circuit, legendary engineer Wally Hassan created this blue-hued bullet of a machine. Completing 25 races between 1934 and 1938, it blitzed the lap record, posting a staggering 143.11 mph unofficial lap in September of 1938, before moving into storage for the War. It has only four owners to its name, including the last and current owner who had the car fastidiously restored over a 10-year period to its exact lap record-setting configuration from its heyday at Brooklands. The Barnato-Hassan is the fastest vintage Bentley-engined racing car made in period and is, incredibly, road registered as MPE 10, which is still assigned to the car!
