We are pleased to offer this well presented, professionally prepared, second generation Cooper S that's currently powered by a 1,293cc unit prepared by renowned A-Series engine specialist, Bill Richards Racing. A versatile little car, it took part in the 2003 BSW Motorsport Saloon and Sportscar Championship (Circuit Racing) finishing a credible third, run by Bill's team but is now essentially a rally car.
Believed to have been fully restored in the early 1990s, it benefited from a major refresh by Bill Richards between 2005/2006 to HRCT Category II-specification including a full engine and transmission rebuild. The spec includes 1,293cc, Power Max pistons, Piper 285 camshaft, close-ratio gearbox, limited-slip differential, Hi-Lo suspension, adjustable shock absorbers, 5x10" Minator alloys, Cooper S discs and callipers, Minifin rear drums and a fly-off handbrake. It has a full Safety Devices roll cage, bucket seats and harnesses, a long sump-guard, a plumbed-in fire extinguisher and electrical cut-off switch. The very impressive Works-style dash has rally trip meters, fuses and switches just where you want things to be when you are pressing on.
The history file contains a Heritage Certificate and history dating back to the 1980s together with an engine build sheet, wiring diagrams for the bespoke loom and various photographs.
Whilst quick and competitive, this sporting little Mini is completely approachable. A lot of people would like to own a good looking Mini Cooper but do not feel inclined to get totally involved in motorsport and this well prepared Mk II is road-registered and could be driven to a sprint, hill climb or club rally just to get the feel of it. It would be fun to use on regularity runs or just to enjoy a visceral rally Mini experience. We encourage your inspection of this British Racing Green Cooper to see if it might fit.
