Description

Estimated Price: £25,000 - £30,000

After a run of more than 60 years, the Land Rover Defender finished production on January 29th, 2016, marking the end (possibly) of a true British motoring legend that will be remembered forever, mainly because most of them will still be running!

The Defender always sat happily alongside the Range Rover and the Discovery in Land Rover's model line-up, eschewing those cars luxury trimmings for no-nonsense straight-edged styling and a utilitarian interior. For what it lacks in refinement and on-road enjoyment, there's absolutely nothing that can touch the Land Rover Defender off-road. It has an incredibly solid chassis, high ground clearance, amazing axle articulation, and four-wheel drive with low range gearing, and can effectively cope with almost anything the elements throw at it.

The Defender’s design architecture lends itself perfectly to versatility. Available in nine core body styles (including Station Wagon, Hard Top, Pick Up and Double Cab Pick Up) and a further five body styles covering Soft Tops and Chassis Cabs with three different wheelbases (90, 110 and 130). By 2007, the Ford-sourced 2.4-litre diesel engine produced a class-leading 360Nm of torque (90% of peak power is on tap from less than 2,200rpm to over 4,350rpm) offering superb towing power.

However, up until now, the elements have not troubled this 2010 Land Rover Defender 90 Hard Top presented here; it has most recently been owned and used on a country estate, doing light work and ferrying guests to the local hostelry! Minimally adapted for such use, the rear sees a useful seating arrangement. Regularly serviced, garaged and looked after by a handful of diligent owners, this Defender wears its 54,000 miles lightly. Attractively finished in Santorini Black Metallic, this venerable ‘vehicle for all occasions’ has a lot to offer in the same way a faithful black Labrador might, and with the same charm and character.
