Description

The 911 Carrera 2.7RS was the ultimate iteration of the 911 in 1973 and remains one of the most sought-after models of the air-cooled 911s. The 2.7 RS was the first 911 to adopt the Carrera name, honouring Porsche’s success at the Carrera Panamericana races during the 1950’s and the first of many stripped out Porsche Road cars to bear the RS denomination which stands for Rennsport or motor racing in German.

The Carrera 2.7 Rs was created in 1973 as a homologation special for the Group 4 FIA rally specification. The engine was upgraded from 2.4 to 2.7 litre and fitted with Bosch fuel injection increasing power to a claimed 210bhp which propelled the car onto a top speed of 150 mph. The car proved an instant success in competition with many notable results.

The Porsche 911 Carrera upgraded to 2.7 RS specification offered at Autostorico is finished in Grand Prix White with Black and White Houndstooth interior trim. First registered in France on 1st July 1973 the car remained in Europe where its Swiss competition passport confirms it competed in 2000 Hockenheim – Slalom Interlaken, 2000 Vareno race circuit at Vareno de’ Melegari in Italy and 2003 Hockenheim – Glodpokal Rennan. The car was registered in the UK in 2008 (being issued with the correct 1973 dated L plate). Passing through the hands of historic race enthusiast Ivan Dutton who competed in the car and had full HTP FIA papers class GTS22 issued. Specification highlights include Correct 2.7 litre RS 210bhp engine, Bosch 6-stamped mechanical fuel injection, 915 five speed gearbox Porsche Slite lsd; 7:31 final drive (4.43:1) Bilstein dampers. 7 and 8in Fuch alloy wheels.

Purchased by its current owner a Porsche enthusiast in June 2011 this stunning example has continued to be maintained to the highest possible stander with recent works carried out by Autofarm and latterly IN Racing.
