The 1961 Jaguar E-Type is one of the most iconic and admired cars in the history of automotive design. First presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, this British model caused an immediate sensation with its combination of beauty, performance, and relatively affordable price.
Description
The Jaguar E-Type (known as the XK-E in the United States) is a two-seater sports car with an aerodynamic design inspired by Jaguar racing cars such as the D-Type. The 1961 Series 1 model was notable for its elegant lines, long hood, faired headlights, and a flowing, streamlined rear end. It was equipped with a 3.8-liter inline-six engine, capable of developing 265 horsepower, allowing it to reach speeds close to 240 km/h (150 mph). It also featured four-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes, something uncommon for its time. The E-Type was not only a technical breakthrough, but also a work of art on wheels. Even Enzo Ferrari described it as "the most beautiful car ever made."
