Description

The 1950 Land Rover Series I 80" is an icon of British engineering and utility. Built with rugged simplicity, it featured an 80-inch wheelbase and an aluminum body, necessitated by post-war steel shortages. Powered by a 1.6 litre inline-four engine, it delivered modest performance but unmatched versatility. Designed originally for agricultural and light industrial use, it quickly proved capable in off-road and military roles. The Series I's minimalist charm, exposed rivets, and no-nonsense interior highlight its functional roots. As one of the earliest Land Rovers, the 1950 model set the foundation for a legacy of durability, adventure, and global off-road capability.

Originally registered in August 1950, this early Land Rover has benefitted from an impressive nut and bolt restoration. This split screen example has been retrimmed and features a new canvas roof. This iconic four-wheel drive is also fitted with rare lockable front hubs. On a recent inspection the car started first time and ran well. Offered at a fraction of the costs to restore it, this Land Rover would grace any serious collection. Consigned by Dominic Lake
