The type-964 generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo is revered for being the last version cut from the same cloth as the original 911 launched three decades prior. Though its timeless design was only mildly updated with new bumpers and taillights, the underpinnings were vastly improved.

The updated 911 Turbo launched in 1990 with the 3.3-liter flat-six from the previous type-930 while Porsche finished developing a turbocharged version of its all-new 3.6-liter flat-six. Introduced for the 1993 model year and well worth the wait, the larger twin-turbocharged M64/60 engine produced significantly more power than its predecessor. Meanwhile, the type-964’s chassis featured the first major suspension redesign since the 911’s inception, ensuring that the new Turbo model was far easier to control. Equipped with the familiar Getrag G50 five-speed manual gearbox, a limited-slip differential, wider bodywork, a large rear spoiler, and 18-inch Speedline wheels, and red brake calipers, the type-964 3.6 Turbo was only sold for the 1993 and 1994 model years, with fewer than 1,500 cars produced in total.

This 1994 911 Turbo 3.6 completed production on 7 September 1993 finished in Black with a Black full leather interior. Factory options included US emissions, an electric sliding sunroof, polished 18-inch wheels, supple leather seats, head restraints with Porsche crest, black velour floormats, and a six-disc CD changer, as indicated by the accompanying window sticker and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The Porsche was shipped to Isringhausen Imports in Springfield, Illinois, which sold the car to its first owner on 15 January 1994, according to information logged in the included warranty service booklet.

A work invoice on file from RPM Sports Cars in Houston, Texas indicates that the interior was professionally customized in January 2005 with Can Can Red upholstery on the doors and lower dash. The seats and floormats were trimmed in matching Can Can Red piping and a three-spoke Black and Can Can Red steering wheel with Porsche logo was also installed, along with red seatbelts, Can Can Red shifter and hand-brake boots, and carbon-fiber trim on the dashboard and center console.

In October 2018, Elite Motors of New Jersey performed an engine-out service, which included resealing the top end, retrofitting RSR rocker shaft seals, adjusting the valves, and replacing the timing chain guides and tensioners, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, and battery. In June 2024, Town Motors of Englewood, New Jersey replaced the fuel accumulator and fuel filter and performed an oil change.

With only 12,521 miles showing on the odometer at cataloguing time, this coveted type-964 911 Turbo 3.6 from the model’s final year of production awaits its next owner to enjoy.
