In 1965, Porsche introduced a four-cylinder successor to its first production model, the 356. The body was borrowed from its big sister, the 911, which had been launched a year earlier, and the four-cylinder technology was borrowed from the 356.
The car was an immediate success. The four-cylinder boxer engine, located behind the rear axle, was lighter than the six-cylinder and made the car handling better than its more expensive 911 sibling.
This 1967 short-wheelbase example was sold new on the island of Hawaii. The car was imported to Finland and registered to the first Finnish owner, E. Karikivi, in 1997.
At the turn of the millennium, the car's body, which was preserved in good original condition, was restored and painted in the original Sand Beige shade. The seat upholstery was renewed.
The first decades on the small island probably explain the low mileage, which is believed to be correct. This is also supported by several original condition preserved parts of the car, such as the dashboard cover, steering wheel, original chromed wheels with hubcaps and original front indicators.
In 2023, the car underwent a thorough engine overhaul at the 9XX-Garage, which specializes in Porsches. The car's engine and transmission work simply great and the Porsche is really fun and perky to drive.
E.Karikivi used the Porsche in the summer and maintained the 912 regularly until 2023, when we bought the car from him and sold the car to a Porsche enthusiast in Porvoo, Finland.
Now the Porsche is looking for a new home and is ready for the next owner to drive and enjoy.
