Description
This one of a kind, bespoke rare example of the 1961 Ferrari short wheel base competizione 365 GT revival is a magnificent performing classic that can only be described as art on wheels.
The SWB (Chassis no. 17281) is painted in superb Ferrari grigio argento (silver grey) and trimmed with period correct soft touch leather seats upholstered in Italy through the Texas based agent Re-Originals.
Hietbrink Coachbuilders, based in the Netherlands, specializing in the limited production of 250 Ferrari short wheel base revival cars, were engaged to build this 1.1mm aluminium revival car in 2012. Hietbrinks are well known for leading this short wheel base movement globally.
Colin Quartly of Quartly Patterns, also a design engineering specialist, then redesigned the 365 GT4 twin cam engine creating a more powerful motor and accommodating the six downdraft Weber carburettors replicating a racing version of the Ferrari 365 Daytona.
The car was then delivered to Auto Restorations for the crafting of the final stages of assembly. The engine was completely rebuilt and installed into the car. As there was limited space in the engine bay, a bespoke exhaust system was designed, developed and created with soundproofing, heat shields and historically correct efficient exhaust snaps. Many exceptional improvements were made to make the car similar to the road going SWB luxury cars produced at the factory. The improvements included narrowing the gearbox tunnel to allow the seats to be placed more centrally creating more headroom. By using a dropdown adjustable pedal box more length was achieved enabling a taller person to drive the vehicle comfortably. Adjustable electric power steering was added, enhancing the driving experience and for racing purposes a non obtrusive roll cage was also fitted.
This beautiful rebodied and road registered Ferrari SWB competizione is the result of a total commitment by dedicated teams of master craftsmen creating this stunning work of art.
