The iconic Alfa Romeo Spyder was introduced in 1966 in the form of the Duetto, a sleek two seater sports car with Pininfarina designed coachwork which replaced the existing 101 Series Giulia Spyder. The Duetto’s Pininfarina designed body was inspired by a styling exercise on a 3.0 Litre Disco Volante chassis seen at Geneva in 1959, and sported an extremely attractive and individual lines. Manufactured for almost 30 years, the Spyder kept its flowing lines throughout its life with only subtle design changes. Power came from the proven four cylinder twin cam unit available in 1300cc, 1600cc, 1750cc and later the more powerful 2 litre engine, providing the car with excellent reliability and superb performance for a car of its size.
