A 'crash' damaged steering wheel with engraved plaque 'Mike Hawthorn Silverstone 1958', distressed wood and aluminium, framed and glazed, 46 x 55cm overall. Offered for sale with an undated letter claiming this wheel was cut and removed from a Jaguar crashed by Hawthorn in 1958, and an auction house 'sale room notice' offering a different angle to the cause of the damage. Sold as viewed.
