An attractive, original oil painting on canvas of Colonel Ronnie Hoare at the wheel of his famous blue Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona at speed. The car features a personalised number plate, RJH 77 (R J Hoare), and displays his BRDC badge, with a figure in the background on a shoot with two hunting dogs. Framed and unglazed.
This painting is one of several motoring and motorboating works commissioned by the Colonel from his friend, the artist Dion Pears (1929–1985), for display in his office at Maranello Concessionaires Ltd, Egham, Surrey, UK, between 1965 and 1975. Following his retirement, the collection of paintings was moved to his house overlooking Poole Harbour in Dorset.
