Mascot, lost-wax cast in silvered bronze with the stamp M.B of Max Blondat and that of the foundry "C.Valsuani, cire perdue", circa 1925.

Max Blondat, the French sculptor (1872-1925), studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1892, where he discovered Art Nouveau and the Decorative arts in which he excelled. In 1906 he became one of the founding members of the Society of French Decorative Arts. He participated in the First World War and was awarded the Croix de Guerre in 1916. He died in Paris in 1925.
Blondat worked in wood, stone, terracotta, glass and bronze. He specialised in the creation of small-scale pieces such as automobile radiator caps.
