The Ferrari 250 GTO is one of the most sought-after and recognisable motor cars in the world. As the ultimate development of Ferrari‘s long line of 250 GT cars, following on from the Tour de France and short-wheelbase models, the GTO is a seminal design representing the apogee of the front engine GT car. In short, it is a legend in its own right.
After its debut in 1962, it carried on from where the short-wheelbase left off; its competition successes during 1962, 1963 and into 1964 are almost too numerous to list, the highlights being GT class wins in all of the classic long distance events such as the Sebring 12 Hours, Targa Florio, Nurburgring 1000km, Le Mans 24 Hours, as well as outright victories in the Tourist Trophy at Goodwood and in the Tour de France.
