By 1960, Peerless Cars Ltd. was in considerable financial difficulty and facing imminent liquidation. Despite this dire setback the enthusiasm of the Directors was undaunted and, rather than sell off the large quantities of spares and equipment little or no return, it was decided that they should form a new company and restart production on a more modest scale. Spurred on by the fact that the car’s designer, Bernie Rodger, had further refinements that he wished to incorporate to the now fated Phase 2 Peerless, their enthusiastic reasoning for the new venture was simply based on capitalizing on the natural progression already instilled in the previous model . Premises were found in Mill Lane, Horton and Bernard Rodgers Developments Ltd. was duly established. Work began on the prototype - reverting to the name
