From 1956 through until 1958, the Wartburg 311 was an exclusive model to Germany before being released to be an exported model from 1958 onwards. A total of 55,660 of these examples were produced, with majority being export after the two-year exclusive in Germany from 1958. These cars are an incredibly rare German series and this example was produced in the first year of manufacturing.

This 311 presents largely original having undergone a light restoration of the paintwork. Finished in unique Green, the remaining exterior of the vehicle present original with the small wear on the chrome fixtures. It appears to have retained the original engine with a low 49,726 reading on the odometer.

The interior design of the 311 offered a spacious and comfortable design and presents to be in a refurbished condition. A dash of full instrumentation, all appear to be in original condition and features the elegantly styled steering wheel, testament of the detailed luxury production of these vehicles.

Powered through a two stroke 900cc 3-cylinder engine and paired to a 4-speed manual transmission, this example remains a pleasure to drive. Offering an economic 37BHP, the Wartburg 311 was able to produce 81NM of toque and hold 40L to its fuel tanks. Its mechanical design features trailing arm suspension in the rear with high lying transverse leaf springs, with hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers for a more grounded ride.

The Wartburg 311 was an East German produced vehicle by VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach between the years of 1956 through until 1965. Released in different variations, the body design was offered as either a pickup, sedan, limousine, coupe and a two-seat roadster.
