The Type 14 was built based on a (widened) Beetle chassis. The Type 34, on the other hand, is based on the Volkswagen Type 3, the so-called 'large Volkswagen'. Chassis and engine of the Type 34 Karmann Ghia were supplied by VW Wolfsburg, the handmade body was built at Karmann in Osnabrück.
The beautiful elegant lines of the body were designed by Sergio Sartorelli, from the Italian design company Ghia. The Type 34 was the top-of-the-line model in the 1960s, the most expensive and most luxurious VW in the showroom. Probably too expensive, because sales weren’t really a success. Only 42,505 units were built from 1961 until the end of production in 1969.
That’s its history. The car has a Dutch registration.
Beautiful car, exempt from Dutch tax and periodic inspections, built in 1968, the engine that runs well, good paint, rock-hard, undamaged, this rare Karmann Ghia Type 34 is a real eye-catcher.
You can steal the show with this car, hardly ever seen on the roads, a really rare and unique vehicle. You’ll get lots of attention, for fans, collectors and a real collector’s item. Some of the options are the reversing lights, rear window heating and the automatic gearbox.
It’s also a fun hobby and a very stable investment!
Transport possible.
The car can be viewed and picked up in the Netherlands.
