Description
1993 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 ABV.
This Corrado VR6 is one of the rare ABV MKIIs that came with the MKII interior. It was registered new in Spain in 1993 and has recently been partially restored.
The current owner first saw this car in 2019 at a model enthusiasts meeting. Its owner at the time sold it to another enthusiast, who wanted to restore it to its original condition, but unfortunately, when they removed the block, they had a problem and the cylinder head fell to the ground and became deformed. So it spent two years at the entrance of the workshop with little hope. After that time, the owner at the time decided to sell it and the current owner bought it without hesitation.
Once in the workshop a donor cylinder head was fitted which was in perfect condition, in order to finish the project.
The exterior is finished in white and is in very good condition. It was recently repainted and has some finishing details, such as excess paint on some of the plastic that can be seen in the pictures. The front lip has details of use and has not been restored. It has 15" Speedline wheels which are in very good condition. The Star Performer tyres are from 2010 and it is advisable to change them due to the passing of time. The rest of the car is in very good condition and maintains a high gloss shine.
The interior, finished in black leather, is completely original and in very good condition for a car that is almost 30 years old. The leather has been nourished with specific products, but shows the patina of the years. In any case, no components need to be replaced. The stereo has been replaced by a slightly more modern one.
Mechanically, it is in excellent condition. The engine has recently been made new and has only covered 300 kilometres since then. Because of this, a break-in is necessary to warm up the engine. The crankcase, the bushings, all the hoses, the expansion vessel, and the engine blocks were replaced, the air conditioning was restored, the O-rings were replaced, the engine was painted, the valves were grinded, the donor cylinder head was decarbonised, all the fluids were purged and topped up, and a Liqui Moly engine additive was added. Mechanically, the car is as close to factory condition as possible, it runs smoothly, moves happily, the clutch works with just the left foot, all the systems are working properly.
This Corrado has been MOT'd regularly since 2001, up to the present day.
The vehicle is located in Madrid, Spain.
Very good condition: minimal signs of wear
