Description

This sensational 1957 oval-window Volkswagen Beetle is fresh out of a 16- month rotisserie restoration by Volkswagen experts Wagenmasters of Upland, California, and was driven about 800 shakedown miles since its completion. The consignor acquired the Beetle from an owner in Redlands, California, and was told it was always a California car. Wagenmasters disassembled it, soda blasted it, and put it on a rotisserie, attending to both metalwork and mechanical work. Photos of this process and a binder of receipts accompany the sale. The Beetle is finished in period-correct Stratos Silver, along with a period-correct German cloth interior in blue polka dots with ivory piping and German square-weave carpet. The car also features a mohair headliner and a Stayfast canvas top in navy, and was fitted with front disc brakes.

The Beetle is a desirable factory sunroof model, as noted on its Volkswagen Zertifikat, and tows a period Allstate single-wheel trailer, which was also restored by Wagenmasters. The Volkswagen is accompanied by 1950s leather luggage and fitted with rare accessory items such as the ivory three-spoke steering wheel, Hella spotlight, rear fender skirts, dash clock speaker grille, and a spectacular accessory radio with Blaupunkt rear speaker.

The Beetle and trailer were shown recently at the Bug-In #45 in Irwindale, California, where it won 1st Place in the Oval Window class . This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a Beetle restored to concours condition and fitted with some of the most unique and desirable period accessories available.
