"Starting with the Meyers Manx, the dune buggy craze took off in America in the early Sixties. Used Volkswagen Beetles were abundant in California and the surf culture was at its peak in the Sixties. The dune buggy epitomised the California lifestyle, and as the concept was so simple and so inviting, it spread quickly.
This correctly registered 1972 Fibrecraft Storm, long wheelbase, four-seater is finished in a custom blue metal-flake paintwork with bespoke black interior. The drivers and passenger seats are on runners to make plenty of space for rear seat passengers. Sitting on chrome wheels with huge deep-dish rears on 295/50/15 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tyres. Believed to be one of just four known examples ever built and road registered, this beach buggy is correctly registered as a ‘convertible’ with the DVLA and carries historic vehicle taxation. Restored over a ten-year period from 2008 to 2018 and finished to a superb standard, this buggy is now only ever used on dry days and has covered less than 1,000 miles since completion but still retaining its original period speedometer.
